Ampler, a renowned e-bike manufacturer, has recently introduced its latest innovations, the Nova and Nova Pro electric bicycles. These cutting-edge models not only boast a sleek and minimalist design but also come equipped with a groundbreaking feature in the e-bike realm – USB-C charging.
The Ampler Nova and Nova Pro stand out for their lightweight construction and innovative design elements. One notable feature is the integration of the battery within the frame, giving the bikes a streamlined appearance that defies the typical e-bike aesthetics. These models mark a departure from traditional e-bikes by offering USB-C charging capability, a move aimed at reducing electronic waste and enhancing user convenience.
Unlike conventional e-bikes that rely on proprietary chargers, the Ampler Nova and Nova Pro can be easily charged using common devices such as laptop chargers, provided they support 140W charging for optimal performance. Even lower-capacity chargers meeting the PD 3.0 standard can be used, albeit at a slower charging rate. Users have the option to purchase a dedicated 140W charger from Ampler or utilize their existing chargers for added flexibility.
Ampler emphasizes the sustainability aspect of its manufacturing process, highlighting that the bikes are hand-built in Europe, specifically at the company’s facility in Talinn, Estonia, utilizing renewable energy sources. Additionally, the Nova and Nova Pro come equipped with a unique feature that allows them to double as smartphone chargers, adding a practical utility to these innovative e-bikes.
The Nova model is tailored for urban commuting, featuring 27.5-inch tires and nine-speed gearing, while the Nova Pro offers enhanced range with 28-inch wheels and a 10-speed transmission. Having tested previous models from Ampler, it is evident that these e-bikes offer seamless pedal assistance, striking a balance between performance and user control. The pedal-assist functionality provides a natural and smooth riding experience, making acceleration and hill climbs effortless yet controlled.
Both the Ampler Nova and Nova Pro are available in various sizes and configurations, including high-step and low-step frame options to cater to diverse rider preferences. Prospective buyers can join a waitlist on the official Ampler website, with shipments scheduled to commence in June 2025. The Ampler Nova is priced starting from $3,232 (2,990€, £2,500), while the Ampler Nova Pro starts at $3,772 (3,490€, £2,920), offering consumers a premium yet sustainable choice in the electric bike market.
