BMW Motorrad has unveiled the production version of its futuristic CE 04 electric scooter concept. The vehicle, inspired by last year’s sci-fi-themed Definition CE 04 concept, aims to revolutionize urban mobility. The German automaker’s motorcycle division is making a bold statement in the electric vehicle market, showcasing a design that could have been plucked from the pages of a cyberpunk novel.
The CE 04 retains much of the striking design elements from the original concept, with angular and streamlined bodywork. The distinctive orange accents and a 10.25-inch TFT color screen with integrated navigation add to the scooter’s futuristic appeal. LED lighting enhances both the aesthetics and functionality of the vehicle, providing a sleek and modern look.
Under the hood, or rather under the seat, the CE 04 boasts an electric motor paired with an 8.9-kWh battery pack, delivering 42 horsepower and a top speed of around 75 mph. Perfect for navigating city traffic, the scooter offers a range of approximately 80 miles on a single charge. With an optional quick charger, recharging from 20 to 80 percent takes just 45 minutes, making it convenient for urban commuters.
BMW’s CEO, Oliver Zipse, describes the CE 04 as a blend of cutting-edge technology and motorcycling excitement, emphasizing the use of premium battery cells also found in the BMW iX. The company’s commitment to sustainable urban mobility is evident in the scooter’s performance and features, catering to the evolving needs of modern city dwellers.
The CE 04 is set to hit the US market early next year, starting at an affordable price point of $11,795. While additional accessories like an adaptive headlight and quick charger can raise the cost, the scooter offers a glimpse into the future of urban transportation.
